The short story market is falling!

Chicken melbourne show

By now every writer who do not live under a rock has heard Chicken Licken's cries. Cries of fear and disbelief, as magazine after magazine close their doors to fiction.

This week, we are going to take a close look at the short story market. It is my opinion that the sky is not falling but simply opening wider so that more kites may take flight.

In detail we will look first at what changes have come in the magazine world. It is true many doors have closed, and as writers it is to our benefit to examine why. Meanwhile, there are still an abundance of open doors. Some new, some old. It is only by becoming familiar with which doors are available to us, that we can walk through them successfully.
